I believe you remember my New Year's trip to the land of margaritas, right? Good, cause there's more to it. I've already mentioned that one of the highlights of the trip was our stay at the insanely beautiful Viceroy Riviera Maya. And now I'm back to elaborate.

If I had to describe Viceroy Riviera Maya in just a few words I would go for this; a secluded paradise in the form of a 5-star resort in the middle of the Mexican jungle.

Ranked #2 in Top 20 Resorts in Mexico (Caribbean Coast) & #97 in Top 100 Hotels & Resorts in the World Readers' Choice Awards 2015, it was exactly the type of accommodation my boyfriend and I had in mind for this trip; an adult-only, intimate resort in lush jungle setting.

We were luckily upgraded to the hotel's Signature Villa, with our own private terrace, plunge pool, outdoor shower and hammock (you can imagine my excitement).

Before we arrived, we had requested an ocean-view villa. However, once we realized that this room didn't provide the type of isolation and privacy we were looking for, we were extremely happy to have one of those hidden in the jungle. Much more romantic if you ask me and you can easily indulge in a late night skinny dip with your sweetheart in your private plunge pool.

As CN Traveler states; "What one employee learns about you, all others soon know and remember - unbelievable, unmatchable service". Well, I couldn't agree more; I was truly amazed by their overall professionalism and friendliness. Everyone called us by our first names from day one, the chef was informed of all my food allergies and willing to tailor all my choices accordingly.

I also loved the fact that the butlers stood ready poolside to fulfill my every wish; either that was a fresh towel, or some coconut water to cool me down.

Being a massive foodie myself, one of the things I value most in a hotel is good food (duh?). And Viceroy did not disappoint. Everything we tried was simply delicious. My favorite meal was hands-down breakfast, served either on our private terrace or at the hotel's restaurant next to the lagoon pool.

If you're a cocktail-lover, I strongly recommend their Mango Frozen Margaritas. I had 2-3 every day (starting right after midday, oops), just because it was the tastiest I've had in my life. And given the fact that it's my ever-favorite cocktail, I've tried a lot.

Highlights of the resort would definitely be the private beach and pier (where I desperately wanted to have the usual candlelit super-cheesy-romantic-dinner-for-two, but much to my disappointment there was no availability for these specific days), as well as the Wayak Spa, offering a variety of therapeuting and relaxing massage treatments, along with traditional Mayan rituals.

Waking up to the sound of exotic birds chirping every morning and seeing the resident family of spider monkeys right outside our window - be prepared for that - was just priceless. Whoever follows me on Snapchat - @nataliageorgala - knows exactly what I'm talking about!

Viceroy certainly won my heart and I cannot recommend it enough for your next trip to Riviera Maya. For what it's worth, both my boyfriend and I would go back in a heartbeat!
