Hi everyone, I know it’s been a while since my last article - good thing you can reach me on my IG account nowadays :) While sharing with you the pictures from the shoot I did in collaboration with ASOS, I thought I'd share with you some thoughts on different aspects of life. Hope you'll find them interesting.
As you may or may not know, I am 31 years old going on 32 this March. Wow! Another whole year has almost passed by. Time really flies and I know that you may be listening to that a lot but trust me, it does and it's the only thing you can’t control nor change. Time. It is your most valuable personal asset, along with good health.
You can’t stop time, you can’t control it, but you can control what to do with it. Spend your time with whoever you want, doing whatever you want and don’t give a damn about what others think. Because at the end of the day, these moments passed and they were yours and only yours. Spend them wisely. Each moment builds up your life. Appreciate them. Make the best out of them. Treasure them. Share them or keep them to yourself.
Another thing that this year taught me was to bluntly say NO to people and things. And it is one of the most redemptive things one can do. “Do you wanna come for drinks tonight with the rest of the crew“? Well, “No, I don’t, but thanks anyway“! Being able to say NO is one of the greatest gifts one can offer to themselves. To say NO without having to explain yourself afterward. That is the greatest part! No means no; it means respecting your needs and wants, your time and energy. So, cheers to more NO. :)
Recently, I have discovered the magical world of yoga. I have tried in in the past, but it felt like it wasn't for me. I remember back in 2013 in New York, my best friend Mary was obsessed with yoga and she would drag me all around SoHo for numerous yoga classes - gosh, I just couldn’t relate to it, mainly because I couldn’t breathe. Oh yes, you heard me well, I couldn’t breathe properly. I was so blocked back at that time, almost all of my chakras were blocked. That resulted in not being able to appreciate the core of yoga and its goodness for the body and soul. But now I am feeling utter gratitude for it. I am thinking of starting to train for getting a yoga degree. ❤️
Timing is everything in life. Trust the signs and the universe. Don’t stress. Stress has the negative power to limit your clear judgment and derail you from your course. Pay attention to your inner voice - it will always speak the truth and guide you. Trust that little voice within.
Last but not least, appreciate yourself. Set your own boundaries and generally avoid criticism. It is very hard, I recognize that but it's bad energy and always try to remember that each one of us comes from a different background that has formulated us. Try to understand situations and behaviors, not judge them.
That was all for now. I will also do an article about myself soon - you know about things I like or things you may not know about me etc. Till then you can check Nat's similar post here.
Love, Nef x
