Reflecting on 2017

First of all, I wanna wish you all a very Happy New Year!

Two short days into 2018 and I still can't stop thinking of everything that's happened to me the past 365 days. I've already mentioned that 2017 was a pretty rough year for me; I faced a lot of difficulties on both a personal & professional level that held me back for a while, but hey I survived and came out stronger & much, much wiser.

2017 was mostly about growing on a personal level; learning more about myself and my limits, setting goals and working towards them, overcoming personal challenges, trying to manage stress (I'm extremely stressful by nature) and most importantly learning to really embrace myself. I'm not gonna say I made it cause I obviously still have a very long way to go, but I feel like I'm already so far from where I used to be even half a year ago...

This sense of accomplishment gives me the strength to challenge myself more and more and I really encourage you to do the same. Don't be afraid of change, you might lose something good, but will definitely find something better, get out of your comfort zone and find out what makes you really happy, surround yourself with people who truly love you for you are (on & off camera) and love hard; love your family, love your partner, love your friends, love your dog, love your job. The more love you give, the more love you'll get back in return.

Work-wise, it wasn't that bad of a year either, I actually think I've had some pretty good moments to remember and be grateful for.

I kicked off the new year with a trip to Berlin to film a project with MAC Cosmetics (and almost froze to death), then traveled to London for Fashion Week hosted by the incredible London Marriott Hotel Park Lane. Had the most intense PFW season ever (did all 8 days), where I had a whole lot of "first times" such as watching the Weeknd perform LIVE, attending Giambattista Valli & partying multiple times with FWRD.

I traveled to the Maldives for the first time ever as part of a collaboration with Park Hyatt Hotels, I worked on 3 digital campaigns with Farfetch, spent 48 unforgettable hours in Crete with Nivea for their first global influencer project and also collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger for both SS17 & FW18 #TOMMYxGIGI collections.

I went on an express trip to New York with Carolina Herrera in June, where I met Carolina herself & got 10 minutes with her daughter Carolina Herrera de Baez, made a mini collab with REVOLVE (#dreamcomingtrue) and spent a lot of hot summer days in my trusted Havaianas.

I went to Milan & Paris (again) for Fashion Week in September - this time as an official correspondent for Luisa World and got the chance to attend some of the hottest shows of the year including Fendi, Isabel Marant & Loewe.

A major career highlight was hands down my trip to LA for the launch of Erdem x H&M. Not only I attended one of the most exclusive fashion events of the year in the City of Angels but also got to shoot my favorite look from the collection on Venice Beach. Speaking about surreal. BTW I still owe you a photo diary from this trip and I promise it will be up very soon - there are so many unpublished photos to share.

Last but not least, I collaborated with PANDORA for the first time ever on a fun Holiday Campaign, shot a digital campaign for the new Michael Kors fragrance #SexyRuby and also worked on a little something with Nef for UBER Greece. Not a bad way to end 2017, right?

While writing this very honest & impromptu post, I caught myself constantly smiling for everything that has happened to me instead of looking back in anger and that's probably the greatest personal achievement of all.

Here's to the New Year, to all the great things that are about to happen and all the bad things that will make me even stronger than I am today. 2018 I am so ready for you.

Thank you for sticking with me. Love you always. X
