Tuesday, 20/10, Wall Street, 7:30PM; #HMbalmaination is happening.
I dare to say that this is the most anticipated H&M designer collaboration to date. And last night was surely the most glam event of the season. In case you are still wondering, I am talking about the Balmain x H&M launch event that took place here in New York, where I had the absolute honor to attend (and shop).
Balmain is every girl's dream - including mine - and even the thought that I can actually lay my hands on a couture-worthy piece from the master Oliver Rousteing without spending a couple of month's rent on it is exhilarating. Am I right? Obviously I am, and this is why I am also sure that this collection is expected to sell-out in hours, probably leaving many Balmainistas around the globe empty-handed.
Olivier's vision for the collection was to "make couture accessible to the masses". And he surely delivered on that. The clothes are as drool-worthy as the original Balmain ones. I mean, the signature blazers, the embellished ultra-mini dresses, the beaded tops, the thigh-high boots are all TO-DIE-FOR. But I believe that the pictures speak for themselves, don't they?
There were so many pinch-me moments during the night; from the number of supermodels strutting the runway (Gigi, Kendall, Jordan, Alessandra, Karlie, and the list goes on) to seeing these spectacular clothes from up close and the ultimate 90s boyband aka Backstreet Boys performing my all time favorite "I Want It That Way", I still cannot digest it all. You can head to my snapchat @nataliageorgala to get a glimpse of the big night!
Highlight of the evening (besides the unexpected Backstreet Boys comeback) was definitely the pop-up shop, where celebrities, models and actual people (like myself) blended together and went absolutely C-R-A-Z-Y; sightings included Lena Perminova, Coco Rocha, Alessandra Ambrossio, Sara Sampaio, Joan Smalls and Martha Hunt, all queueing behind the tills and leaving the room with their hands full of Balmain goodies. And if the girls who have it all are actually "queueing", you know something big is happening...
